Trace the development of the Morgan Library’s campus from the original 1906 building designed by McKim, Mead & White to the 2006 addition by architect Renzo Piano.
In the first half of the twentieth century, E. F. Caldwell & Co. was America’s premiere design and manufacturing firm of electric light fixtures and decorative metalwork. The firm, founded in 1895, illuminated many of the most significant public and private buildings of the day, including the Morgan Library. This set of images focuses on Caldwell’s work for the Morgan Library, a building designed by the company’s frequent collaborator, the architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White. These photographs come from The E. F. Caldwell & Co. Collection in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Library.
